January 16, 2007 NSCDAE WIA Proposal The NCSDAE Executive Committee and Policy Committee have been working with our colleagues on the National Coalition for Literacy to develop a WIA proposal for the 110th Congress. Copies of the resulting WIA proposed legislation and an overview “Critical Issues” document can be found on the NSCDAE Policy Update web site: http://www.ncsdae.org/myweb/Policy_Updates.htm These two documents were developed in collaboration with the National Coalition for Literacy which represents thirty national organizations with adult education and literacy missions. Our goal is for all adult education and literacy organizations to speak with one voice on critical policy issues. The Council advisors and Coalition policy advisors will be meeting with key House and Senate staff members to review the proposals in the next two weeks. The Policy Committee will keep you apprised of developments through the SPOC network and through subsequent issues of the NCSDAE Washington Views.
